My last two employers did not require my last name be on the badge. Its for safety reasons. My managers know who took care of which patient. My name is in the electronic record but the patient does not need to know my last name for social purposes. Protects me from crazy people.

We have our full names and I do support it. I understand the need for safety, but what other profession exists that you don’t know their last name? Police officers, physicians, correctional officers, pharmacists (to name a few) all list their last name.

This must be a state law.

I worked in NYC and they had my last name on my badge. I asked them to remove it and they didn’t, so I blacked it out with a sharpie. I was taught in nursing school never to give out my last name because some patients would possibly try to find you either on social media or in person. And besides our last names are all over their charts which they have access to if they choose to utilize MyChart.

We went to first name only about a year or 2 ago... does help me feel more secure and safe... especially in this day and age of instant internet access, and scary stalkerish behaviour at times from patients.

Do not have my last name on my badge at current employer but in the past have covered it with tape. Didn’t go over well with management but I persisted in action only and they stopped requesting that I remove the tape.

Illinois allows first names only. I've never had my last name on my badge.

I took care of prisoners often.....I was required to display last name!

Non standardized uniforms too. I can pick out whete health personnel work by the colors they where and even if they are a nurse or a cna.

Sadly, if your home address is posted on the state board nursing site then everyone has access. That's why I got a PO Box.

In MA You have to display your first name, the first initial of your last name, then your credentials

I've been a nurse for 15 years in Ohio. My hospital has always only had first name last initial

Yes, he deserves consequences. Obvious history of misguided and threatening tendencies.

Many people think it's part of our job to take abuse. I have been punched, slapped, spit on and even had scissors thrown at me. Most incidents were mostly ignored by management and put back on nursing staff. "How could YOU have changed YOUR behavior?" Verbal abuse happened daily. People need to be held accountable. NURSES LIVES MATTER TOO!!!!

Had already inflicted that kind of damage just days before & she was in his room without a security officer present? I don’t think so!

i think that number is actually a lot higher. Most medics I know(myself included) just shrug it off and keep going even with injuries.
